Melanie Hayes Counselling
Warm, Open-Minded & Empathetic Psychotherapy
Welcome!
Melanie Hayes, MA, RP
Registered Psychotherapist
I am so glad that you are here and considering support for the many struggles we encounter in life. To have a successful experience, it is important to make a therapeutic connection with your counsellor, so it is my hope through this website you will be able to find out more information about whether we would be a good fit to work towards your goals.
I have been told that my approach is warm, and client centred and creates a safe and compassionate environment where others feel supported and able to be themselves. My experience is in private practice and community based mental health, and I am passionate about helping others use their own strengths to find meaning in their life.
I have been supporting adults and youth with mild to severe mental illness since 2010. I graduated from Yorkville University with a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology in 2014. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and remain in good standing with the Ontario Association of Mental Health Practitioners (OAMHP).
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time at home with my husband and our daughter, travelling, seeing new places and meeting new people.
The curious paradox is that when I
accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
The good life is a process, not a state
of being. It is a direction not a destination.

difficult situations through
mindfulness and acceptance.

Traumatic Experiences
People who are hurting don't need Avoiders, Protectors or Fixers. What we need are patient, loving witnesses. People to sit quietly and hold space for us.
